Mine is samsung notes
Your channel grew so quickly❤ well done
you mentioned that you organise your book by chapters, how do you decide when to do chapters, etc, etc
So helpful. Thank you!
I wonder if you're an Enneagram 5. I love this video!
i got this video right after your first commonplace book video haha
same
Why have I never heard about this???? This is amazing! I will likely be trying this. :)
Holy shit I feel like I do this already but in a much less organized way! Totally gonna start doing this on purpose now omg
Do you have plans to make a video on your obsidian set up? Yours seems very aligned to how I would set up mine! I downloaded Obsidian and was overwhelmed with the options and then closed it and didn't go back. A video of your setup would be very much appreciated! Love your videos so far thank you for creating!
Are you Dutch?? 👀
Wow, I am so glad this video was recommended to me because I really love this idea! Right now I struggle with having so many separate memos on the notes app in my phone and nothing is organized at all. Having one home for all notes/quotes is genius. While watching your video, I was trying to think of how I would organize everything because I tend to read multiple non-fiction books at once and switch between depending on my mood (which is why having a memo for each book/podcast episode/etc kinda works) but I really like you effectively made an index at the back of your notebook. I might just steal that idea teehee ^_^ Thank you for sharing :)
do i even need to share my experience when all I say is, "SAME"? PS. your second lesson goes straight through me because I've struggled with this degrading impact of journaling on me since the pandemic. I've used writing to distract me, only to realize that I've filed hundreds of pages with useless thoughts that didn't help me at all. Instead, it caused me to spiral and I've avoided journaling emotions since then. I tried to keep them as rigid and objective as possible, suppressing any need to be too raw again. So thank you for those three points, I feel like journaling doesn't need to be so rigid anymore.
dataview was so convenient that when i opened the graph, i realized that i neglected what i was in it in the first place, making connections. I ended up going with what i was used to, listing information like a folder. So as a roundabout person who tends to work best in scratch, i keep renewing my vault to go through each note and subconciously filter which notes actually matter to me 😅. Notebooks still work best for my ideas, tho. So it's really great to use both analog and digital commonplacing to always update myself with the notes i keep with me. Also, the aliases property is a godsend so i could avoid a lenghty internal link while also being able to manually choose which unlinked mentions to link. I've also avoided having too many folders and rely on tags, which helps in seeing the node sizes differ according to frequency.
This is amazing! Just stumbled upon this video and I really resonated with this idea and I def want to try and implement it. I already have ideas of how I want to have my books. Maybe different books for each self help category: one for finances, one for mental health, one for relationships! I love it! Thanks! The book is so beautiful too!
In my case i just went back to the original bujo. Didn't care about making it look good anymore
I love seeing your new nail colours in videos
I agree with a lot of points in this video - I'm very new to planning and bullet journaling (just a couple months) and I've been using a bujo for that amount of time. I do love it, making pretty pages (and sometimes not so pretty pages) is really nice to get my thoughts and memory keeping out as well as just being able to vent and stuff. But I also have my lists and my trackers and my daily meal plans and ofc the more pages I make the more these admin things get a little lost. I don't particularly mind right now however I recently ordered a new Hobonichi cousin that I'm waiting on because I have already started noticing that drawing out the boxes and planniing weeks or months ahead is just so much more harder by hand when the hobo just has everything laid out. I'll still continue using my bujo for memory keeping and doodling and everything but I'll be using the hobo for more admin stuff absolutely
I am soo glad to have come upon this video! I have Notion where I save tv shows, travel stuff and medical information, my phone gallery is full of screenshots of youtube or reddit comments that really inspired me and I have tons of sticky notes in books that I've read. So much stuff in so many different places and adding to that, I keep watching videos on the same topics because I never remember all of the content. A commonplace book is exactly what I need and since I never know what to put in my journal, this will be it. Not sure how I wanna do the index yet but that'll be a process of trial and error. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful concept with us!
I have this in digital form, didn't know this is what it was. I know I'm not the only one, but it looks like how my screenshots file in my gallery looks like 😅
I really like this idea, never heard of it before will definitely get me a notebook for this :)
Hi again! I started using Obsidian after watching your video and have become more than a little obsesses with it. 😅 I'd love to know how you're using yours, if you're interested landing to make a video about it? P.S. I'm planning on writing a blog post about my system soon, I hope it's all right to refer to your video?
Of course it’s totally fine to refer to this video ❤️ I will do a “vault tour” soon 🥰
Oh see I’ve always called it my “random shit” notebook but it’s not as neat
Maybe not as poetic but certainly effective!
Can you please tell what theme you have? I want one of these, it looks amazing!!! The video itself is so clear and comfortable, please don't stop, you're great!
I have the AnuPpuchin theme with the “Style Settings” plug in! The style settings plug in is how I have the rainbow folders!
Oh! It has a name and history! So Ibegan a notebook of this type bc it was un healthy to have to dig thru my journal of bad days to find the quotations that uplifted me during those times. I was hesitant to re-read past entries and decided to move all inspirational quotes, passages or poems to its own dedicated journal. Thank you for this video
I am in love with the glossary you have in the back of your commonplace book! It is simple and easy to understand. Something I will be adapting in my own common place book, and in the notebook I use for school notes! Thank you for all of the suggestions.
I scan my journals and burn them afterwards... helps with the ink fading I guess :D
Neat! I've been doing this with a notes app on my phone for more than a decade now and didn't know it had a name. Thanks for the video!
What theme are you using? or how do change the color of your folders? Thanks for the video
I use the AnuPpuchin Theme with the “Style Settings” plug in! The plug in has a section for rainbow folders which you can turn off and on :)
@@NotebookOverloadd Thanks
This video makes me want to go back to school just so that i have an excuse to set up a cool note taking system
What stand do you use to hold your camera and what kind of camera is it? I’ve always been interested in doing these kinds of videos. Yours are very well made!
Thank you! I just use my iPhone to film! I did buy a “overhead camera mount” online, you can find a lot of different ones if you type that into google. And I use a USB mic for the audio because otherwise it sounds really echo-y
Wonderfully presented video, thank you.
Wow!! I had no idea this was a tradition. What a useful idea to have your own personal encyclopedia. I'm going to give it a try. And what about having a book to note down your reactions and reflections on things? Your own words. The reverse basically of filling a book with others' words. I might try that too.
Just discovered your channel and I really appreciate this video in particular. It was very thoughtful and I think could be helpful for me on my low days. I gotta keep in mind the "what if everything works out" anti-anxiety mantra too 🤔
I use a filofax and that solves the linear nature of books. You can change the order of the pages. :)
For some reason I really dislike writing in those 😭 left hand struggles!
Love this idea!
i'm gonna start calling my tumblr this, 'cause it's really that, except it's filled with not just words but pictures as well 🤩
I video journal mostly, and as a way to help myself understand my emotions, come to conclusions and ultimately let go of negative thinking and find a positive outcome, outlook or result.
I use obsidian at work this is going to be so helpfull!
I use handwriting recognition to get the benefits of writing with the ease of digital
these journal covers are so aesthetic, I love it ☺☺
OMG please I need to know what obsidian plug ins you are using
Thank you!
This is amazing timing, just yesterday I was looking for a video about transferring a commonplace book to obsidian!😮
Must be something in the water 😁 happy to help!
TIME TO BUY MORE NOTEBOOKS LET'S GOOOOOO
Thank you for this! I’ve been binging all your videos. As a fellow neurodivergent person who has bad mental health days, this is so helpful! You are helping me take the pressure off of myself to have the perfect planner and have it work for me. Thank you!! ❤
Thank you, this is so insightful, I feel inspired now :D ! I've been using Anytype for digital journaling, it looks pretty similar to Obsidian, but I don't think it's as customizable. I'm a Notion girlie but needed an alternative specifically because of the offline functionality.
I own several blank books, and have had crippling anxiety to use them for my standard journaling, but this... This seems cool.
i keep diaries, but i shift a lot so i now find the older diaries a burden to carry. digital notebooks would help me, but i really like writing with hands, so its an issue for me
this has revolutionised everything for me!!! thank you. i also like to hyperfocus on specific subjects and often spend hours trying to find things i previously read on reddit 😅
This is the first time i've heard about Obsidian -- it sounds really exciting but also very daunting. Writing things down is so much slower, but I remember them better that way. I do think though, that i'm more likely to look at entries again if they're on my phone rather than in a book. Having once place to save snippets of information as well as links, articles to read, etc sounds very appealing. Thanks for this video! ❤❤
